May 2011
Dear Friends of St. John’s,
St. John’s Episcopal Church of Plymouth
is planning a very special celebration commemorating 100 years since having been
established as a Mission on February 19, 1912! This is our official date
of celebration; however, as many are aware we have been part of the Plymouth
community on and off since 1898.
Our Centennial Celebration will “Kick
Off” on June 19, 2011 with the Parish Picnic, and it will culminate with our
February 19, 2012 Centennial Festival Eucharist. Various joyful activities
have been planned in between those dates.
On behalf of the Centennial Celebration
committees, we extend a warm invitation to consider joining us for any, or
all, of the events that have been planned.
We also invite you to consider being an
“Angel,” by making a financial donation toward the planning of this
milestone celebration. Please take a look at the
Centennial Celebration
Dedication form for details. You can print, fill out, and then mail
this form.
One of the many things happening is the
creation of two banners that will not only be used for the Centennial
celebration, but
will also be used well beyond. After listening to church members, this
group explained that “the banners will reflect St. John’s as a loving
community for families and individuals of all ages; our cross is central
as it represents our faith and our church; that we are on a continuing
journey in our walk with Christ; and that God is the center over all we
do.”
St. John's continues on its journey to
be a vital part of the Plymouth community, bringing the Gospel message to
all. This milestone celebration offers an opportunity for us to embrace
our roots and look to the future as the body of Christ...
“Proclaiming the Love of Christ.”
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
